Subscribe? Good to know!
- For minors starting in September, after the registration period in March, a draw takes place in April if there are at that time more subscribers than available places.
- For minors starting in February, after the registration period in October, a draw takes place in November if there are at that time more subscribers than available places.

For the minors with places still available applies until the closing of the subscription period: Once a minor is full, it is closed!

In addition, if the number of subscribers after four weeks is below the norm; this minor may possibly be withdrawn. So if you are interested, sign up immediately!

Subscribe in time!

For HAN students it means that, in case of cancellation of the first choice AFTER the period of decision (this takes a full month) they may re-subscribe for the still available minors.

Even then: Once a minor is full, it is closed!

A good overview of the HAN minors can be found in the minors app! The app is accessible via: http://www.minoren-han.nl/

An important aspect in the life sciences is to identify important genes and then making corresponding (recombinant) proteins. This kind of experiments takes place both in an industrial/biotechnological environment as well as in a medical/academic environment. Before proteins can be produced, the associated gene must first be mapped. If this information is available, the DNA will be obtained and possibly modified. By isolating the DNA and then cloning it can be transferred to a suitable expression system. The protein will be expressed and followed by isolation, purification and characterization of the protein. The protein should now be tested for functionality. This line of genetics and cloning to protein expression is central to this module. In the first part of the semester, working with DNA and genetic analysis is the central theme. The second part of the semester will focus on protein, protein expression, purification and characterization of proteins. ("Analyze" and “production" of the Biodiscovery-chain).In this module will be on the practice in which working with DNA and proteins. The whole process from amplifying genes, then expressing proteins to the analysis of proteins is covered.
