- For minors starting in September, after the registration period in March, a draw takes place in April if there are at that time more subscribers than available places.
- For minors starting in February, after the registration period in October, a draw takes place in November if there are at that time more subscribers than available places.

For the minors with places still available applies until the closing of the subscription period: Once a minor is full, it is closed!

In addition, if the number of subscribers after four weeks is below the norm; this minor may possibly be withdrawn. So if you are interested, sign up immediately!

For HAN students it means that, in case of cancellation of the first choice AFTER the period of decision (this takes a full month) they may re-subscribe for the still available minors.

Are you studying to become a teacher and are you interested in an international career? Sign up for the Education in International Perspective exchange course offered by the HAN University of Applied Sciences!

This exchange course focuses on developing an international and innovative educational culture among young world citizens who seek a teaching career in primary or secondary education.

The Education in International Perspective exchange course is a semester course that is open to students in the field of teacher training (both primary and secondary). It will take place in Nijmegen during the Autumn und Spring semester every year.

We offer a variety of international modules students can choose to make up their own study programme for the semester. One of these modules, i.e. Tutoring, is required for everyone. 

If you choose to select the module School Placement, you will spend additional days/weeks at your placement school during the entire semester. Please note that the School Placement module can only be selected if you are a native speaker of either Dutch or English.

  • The School Placement module is only open for international students if you are a native speaker of either Dutch or English (not for Dutch students) and it runs through the full semester

Block exchange course
This exchange course is offered twice a year in a block during a semester.

Type of exchange course
This is a differentiation exchange course. This means it enables you to develop your professional competences in a different/broader context.

The learning outcomes listed below will help you decide whether this exchange course matches your personal goals.

Learning outcomes

  • You will encounter and discuss, through various forms of input, new educational issues or content, challenging approaches and teaching strategies in an international context     
  • You will corroborate with international students from as many different countries as possible, including theNetherlands
  • You will be confronted with and reflect on each other’s educational ideas and ideals (forming an interactive ‘international learning community’)
  • You will utilize your experience and knowledge through active participation in discussions and presentations, problem-solving tutorials and peer group coaching.

An exchange course will be of most benefit to you if it complements your study and/or your professional profile, is at an appropriate level and does not overlap with your major.

For whom?

  • Teacher education students for pre-primary, primary and secondary education (pupils aged 4 – 18 yrs) from our international partner universities 
  • Students from HAN University of Applied Sciences and other institutions for higher education in The Netherlands

Admission requirements

  • Competency in English at a minimum of level B1 according to the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR)
  • A minimum of 82.5 ECTS credits acquired at the home institution
  • Teaching experience with children/young people is preferable

This exchange course has the following schedule and working methods:

Schedule
The semester is divided into two teaching periods of ten weeks each. International students are requested to arrive in Nijmegen in the last week of August and take part in the introduction activities, prior to the official start of the semester. The Autumn semester continues until the end of January 2022.

Students are expected to be available from Monday to Friday.
