Subscribe? Good to know!
- For minors starting in September, after the registration period in March, a draw takes place in April if there are at that time more subscribers than available places.
- For minors starting in February, after the registration period in October, a draw takes place in November if there are at that time more subscribers than available places.
For the minors with places still available applies until the closing of the subscription period: Once a minor is full, it is closed!
In addition, if the number of subscribers after four weeks is below the norm; this minor may possibly be withdrawn. So if you are interested, sign up immediately!
Subscribe in time!
Note: For HAN students it means that, in case of cancellation of the first choice AFTER the period of decision (this takes a full month) they may re-subscribe for the still available minors.
Even then: Once a minor is full, it is closed!
A good overview of the HAN minors can be found in the minors app! The app is accessible via: http://www.minoren-han.nl/
Transferminor Engineering Systems (TES) at HAN University of Applied Sciences: a bridge from Bachelor to Master Engineering Systems (MES) for students within the technical domain.
Do you want to continue your study after completing your technical bachelor and obtain a masters degree (MSc) in Engineering? The transferminor TES prepares you for the Master Engineering Systems (MES) at HAN University. You will improve your skills in mathematics and relevant topics of physics, learn to use simulation software and apply that knowledge on modelling and controlling engineering systems. Besides theory and assignments you will perform a challenging project, where you also will develop your scientific and research skills. Current topics like sustainable energy and smart systems will be covered in the project. The transferminor TMES consists of 50% theory and 50% application. It offers students of all engineering studies a technical deepening and extension of engineering knowledge. That leads eventually to a good connection to the master course MES.
De following subjects will be covered in the transfer minor:
- Mathematics (i.e. complex numbers, differential equations, La Place transforms, linear algebra, stastistics)
- Physics (i.e. mechanics, dynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, electricity, magnetism)
- Physical modelling
- Practical Modelling and Simulation (Matlab, Simulink, Simscape)
- Measurement and Control
- Research and scientific skills
- Project management skills (i.e. project planning, scientific reporting and presenting)
- Technical support meetings (related to the project work)
Block exchange course
This is a block minor. It is offered once a year as a block in the 1st semester.
Type of exchange course
This is a specialisation exchange course.
This means it enables you to further deepen your skills and knowledge within your own profession (professional profile).
Learning outcomes
The learning outcomes listed below will help you decide whether this exchange course matches your personal goals.
- Using advanced mathematics in technical context
- Analysing physical systems in several domains (mechanical, electrical, thermal, hydraulical)
- Applying physical laws and relationships in modelling technical systems
- Applying basics of measurement and control on technical systems
- Modelling and simulation of technical systems in a structured way using Matlab, Simulink and Simscape
- Selecting sensors and applying control in technical systems
Project work:
- Predicting the behaviour of an engineering system with use of modelling
- Validating the behaviour with literature and/or practical implementation
- Conducting research and show scientific reporting and presentation skills
Competences
C1. Analysing and defining problems
C2. Design
C3. Testing
C4. Managing work processes
C5. Conducting research
C6. Communication and collaboration
C7. Professional development
Admission requirements
Students who have their propaedeutic certificate and at least 120 EC points, or students with an (international) comparable program. You also should have a sufficient understanding of the English language (spoken and written). After application there will be a short meeting to discuss your learning goals and challenges.
For Whom?
The minor is open to students from various engineering bachelor programmes (like AU, BK, CT, EL, ESE, IPO, TBK, TI, WTB or equivalent), The goal of the minor is to provide a bridge from bachelor to the Master Engineering Systems (MES).
